MOM AND FIRST CHECK-UP
Six week after birth is usually followed by a first check-up at the gynaecologist. Yeah, I admit, I was really scared. Those of you who already went through this will probably understand. Of course things change a lot down there and that’s where all the fear comes from.
But let me tell you there’s nothing to be scared of. First came the weighing and the scale still show around 8 pounds plus. No problem, I’ll get rid of them slowly. The size of the belly went down by 83 centimetres, still 8 centimetres more than before pregnancy. The examination itself wasn’t painful as I expected. After talking to a few moms I though it will be quite painful but luckily I had a different experience which I’m really thankful for. I had a few problems with the stiches that haven’t dissolved completely, so my gynaecologist suggested I use Cicatridina cream.
We had a talk about proper protection. I can’t imagine myself getting pregnant again so soon. I respect all moms that manage to handle two babies with a small age difference. My hat’s off! I personally chose Cerazette contraceptive pills that are suitable for moms who breastfeed since they only contain progesterone and no oestrogen.
After a month and a half after birth I feel fine if I don’t count the nightly excursions and breastfeeding, but it will pass. All I wish that Jack would sleep at least four hours straight. Wishing too much? Breastfeeding is still going great, I’m taking care of my nipples with Mama Mio Keep Calm Nipple Balm, once a week I also use Multi Mam Compresses. I use nourishing body butters and oils on my skin but I still got stretchmarks on my tummy. I hope they fade soon.
How was your first check-up at the gynaecologist? Which contraceptive did you opt for?
